By 31 December 2026, the town of Brive-la-Gaillarde must remove around 1,000 parking spaces. For the past few days, municipal workers have gradually been covering with black paint the white lines that marked these spaces. The measure applies the 2019 mobility law (LOM), which bans parking within five metres before a pedestrian crossing so that pedestrians and drivers can see each other better. The town will go from about 12,000 spaces to just under 11,000, a reduction of 8% of the municipal total.
