On the evening of Tuesday 13 October, Brive prosecutors gave an update on a RAID operation carried out overnight from Tuesday 6 to Wednesday 7 October, following the kidnapping and confinement of two teenagers locked in a car boot. In a first wave of arrests, seven people from the Paris region were detained: five were remanded in custody and two placed under judicial supervision, after police seized drugs, cash, a bulletproof vest, a machete and knives. The investigation then identified other suspected accomplices, and the RAID elite police unit arrested four people, including a minor, seizing more than 2 kg of cannabis resin, 270 g of cocaine, four tasers and over 2,000 euros in small notes. The main suspect has been given a prison sentence, and prosecutors have vowed a firm response at a time when several shootings in Brive may be linked to drug trafficking.
