Fodder Crisis: Up to €2 Million for Corrèze Livestock Farmers

Anxiety is running high on livestock farms: after a disappointing hay harvest in early summer, pastures scorched by the heatwaves failed to grow back. For several weeks now, farmers have been dipping into the fodder stocks meant to see them through the winter. Early this week, the prefect of Corrèze, Vincent Berton, visited a farm to hear requests for help buying extra fodder, with the FDSEA and Jeunes Agriculteurs unions calling for aid per head of livestock rather than per hectare. The prefect announced a €1.5 million package, which could rise to €2 million, paid out through a simplified form around 15 October.
