Several trade unions are calling for a strike and demonstrations this Wednesday, 4 November. They include the CGT, FO, FSU, Sud Solidaires, CFDT, CFE-CGC, Unsa and the USL high-school students' union. As the government announces a tight budget for 2027, the unions condemn choices that they say target the most vulnerable and the sick first. Marches will start at 10:30 a.m. at Place Brigouleix in Tulle, then at 2:30 p.m. at Place du 14-Juillet in Brive and outside the hospital in Ussel. In Ussel, the maternity ward could close around 2030 under a plan to create a mother-and-child unit in Brive that would bring together the Tulle and Ussel maternity wards.
