Maugein: Christophe Sirgues determined to keep the accordion factory going

"I will fight to the very end to make sure it carries on," says Christophe Sirgues. A former employee of the Maugein accordion factory, he has been running it for two years. The factory has outstanding craft expertise in Corrèze, which visitors can discover at the Cité de l'accordéon in Tulle. The museum has just added the instrument of Jean Lapeyre to its collection, a Corrèze accordionist who died in 1966. An exhibition presents the contribution of this former schoolteacher, who promoted rural music centres.
