In Brive, a plane tree on Avenue de Paris, not far from the theatre, will be felled between Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 September. Monitored since 2009, it has been eaten away by a fungus that weakens the wood at the base of its main branches. According to the town hall, its poor health now puts people using the street at risk. Support cables were installed in 2014 to limit the damage, but the problem has got worse. A new plane tree should be planted in its place in December to keep the avenue's trees.
