A union coalition brought around 1,500 protesters onto the streets of Brive and more than 900 in Tulle to defend wages, young people and public services, under the slogan "No austerity, no job insecurity". The unions say the movement is gaining ground, fuelled by strong social anger ahead of the presidential election and while next year's budget, which includes spending cuts, is being drawn up. No incidents were reported in any of the Corrèze marches. Secondary school students and their parents also joined in, a sign that support remains strong in the schools.
