Senate elections: the right takes both Corrèze seats in the first round

Les Républicains candidates Pascal Coste and Julien Bounie were elected senators for Corrèze on Sunday 27 September, winning in the first round from the college of grand electors (MPs, regional and departmental councillors and municipal delegates). Pascal Coste, president of the departmental council, took 74.26% of the vote, while Julien Bounie, a Brive councillor and parliamentary assistant to outgoing senator Claude Nougein, won 70.62%. The left came next with 18% for Socialist Thomas Jacquelin, 8% for Green candidate Amandine Dewaele and 7% for Communist Olga Boudin. Valéry Elophe (National Rally) gathered 6%, ahead of Rémy Runfola (LFI) and Emma Blondel (miscellaneous right), each on 2%.
