Six Corrèze post offices in the firing line

Last Wednesday, the online outlet Mediapart revealed that 441 post offices are under threat across France. In Corrèze, the branches of Lubersac, Le Lonzac, Chamboulive, Donzenac, Allassac and Lapleau are reportedly on the list, to be replaced by municipal postal agencies: most services would be kept, but opening and managing a bank account would become impossible. Since such closures require the mayors' agreement, pressure on local officials is intense. La Poste management describes the list as a working hypothesis, and several consultation meetings with elected officials are due to be held.
