Sommet de l'Élevage: Corrèze Turns Out in Force at Cournon, Without the Minister

- Event date
- Tuesday, October 6, 2026
The Sommet de l'Élevage opens on Tuesday in Cournon-d'Auvergne, on the outskirts of Clermont-Ferrand, a year after an edition cancelled because of the lumpy skin disease outbreak that kept cattle confined to pastures and barns. Dozens of lorries have been leaving Corrèze since Monday for France's leading livestock show, where drought, meat prices and the future of the sector top the agenda. Several presidential candidates are expected at the show before Friday. Agriculture Minister Annie Genevard, however, cancelled her visit on Monday afternoon after ministers were told to cut back on travel during the student protests, and no new date has been announced.
