Chabrignac: The Pumpkin Festival Turns 30

On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, Chabrignac celebrates the 30th edition of its Pumpkin Festival, two days devoted to squashes of every kind. Saturday morning brings a "bread and jam" walk with fresh loaves and homemade preserves, followed by an afternoon for children with the "Potirolympiades" games and the show "Les Bulles", then a dance in the evening. On Sunday come the pumpkin weigh-in, the official opening and a 20-euro meal cooked under the market hall by volunteer chefs, with a brass band, exhibitors, a graffiti artist, rides and entertainment all day. Throughout the weekend, bakers knead and bake bread on site while pumpkins and gourds are displayed in all their shapes, sizes and colours.
