Chestnuts take centre stage in Villefranche-du-Périgord

On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, Place de la Liberté in Villefranche-du-Périgord hosts the Chestnut and Flavours Gathering. This food-filled weekend offers roasted chestnuts, freshly pressed apple juice, new wine and local specialities. The programme also includes a producers' market, a contest for the biggest and the smallest chestnut, brass bands, folk dancing, a parade, vintage vehicles and guided tours of the village. Visitors can also enjoy porcini omelettes and special restaurant menus, and visit the Chestnut House for free. On Sunday, there is an unusual chestnut-spitting contest. Information: +33 6 07 70 97 21.
