On Saturday 14 November at 5pm, historian Anne-Marie Cocula-Vaillières gives a talk on the "Boatmen of the Dordogne" at the Salle ABC in Belvès. She will trace the history of commercial navigation on the river through archives found in a trunk, in the attic of a boatmen's house in Saint-Capraise-de-Lalinde. Notarial contracts and family account books reveal the trade that once linked Limousin and Auvergne to Libourne and Bordeaux via the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. The talk will be followed by a book signing.
